Help Guardian understand your work

Write a useful goal and respond when a page is marked off-focus.

Guardian helps you notice when your current activity drifts from your goal. A clear goal gives it useful context; AI judgments can still be wrong.

Give your goal an action and a subject

Use “Review the presentation outline” instead of “Be productive.” Include the topic you are working on when it helps distinguish research from unrelated browsing.

Update the goal when your work changes. A goal is a direction for the session, not a promise that every page will be classified perfectly.

Read the current status

Guardian depends on readable browser context and a working AI setup for AI judgments. Missing access or a provider problem should be treated as a readiness issue, not proof that the page is on-topic.

Meoz uses browser Accessibility and Automation paths for browser judging, not screenshots. Resolve access problems.

When legitimate work is flagged

Read the intervention and use the explanation or appeal action if it is available. Describe why the resource is needed for the current goal. Temporary allowances have limits; they are not a permanent exemption for every page on a platform.

Explicit block rules and specialized safeguards can behave differently from ordinary AI judgments. If an action is unavailable, follow the reason shown instead of repeatedly changing tabs.

Choose your boundaries

Review blocking options for deliberate restrictions, and AI privacy choices to understand where context is processed.

Choose how firmly Guardian intervenes

For Meoz 1.1.333 on macOS, open Settings → Custom Focus Rules → Guardrails & Policies → Strictness Profile. These choices affect Guardian during focus; they do not remove a Network Blocker restriction.

  • Smart Context (Recommended) balances guidance and intervention for mixed-use work.
  • Gentle Companion favors reminders instead of forced tab closing for ordinary distractions. Adult and gambling restrictions remain exceptions; it is not a universal promise that nothing can close.
  • Deep Lockdown makes intervention firmer. Selecting it does not activate Commitment Lock; review locks separately.

Choose the profile, then check the displayed selection and Guardian's status during your next Focus phase. If the selector is locked, wait for the displayed lock to expire. If an intervention seems wrong, check the explicit lists and Short Video Policy before assuming the profile alone controls it.

Choose a short-video policy separately

For Meoz 1.1.333 on macOS, open Settings → Custom Focus Rules → Guardrails & Policies → Short Video Policy. Check this dropdown independently of Strictness Profile.

  • Strict (Recommended) is the default when no choice has been saved and is intended to block short-video feeds immediately.
  • Smart (Grace & Review) offers more room for review, while retaining safeguards against repeated short-video browsing.
  • Monitored Only uses reminders rather than tab closing for short-video monitoring.

Other explicit rules can still apply. The Short-Form Video Platforms editor asks for platform domains, one per line; do not treat it as a way to allow one specific video. Check the selected policy and the reason shown on an intervention. If the control is unavailable, follow the lock explanation. Set up mixed-use websites before making broad exceptions.

Use the available review or appeal action

For Meoz 1.1.333 on macOS, read the intervention card's reason first. Pre-Close Review is an opportunity to act before closing, not proof that an exception has already been granted.

  • Where offered, Working on this (15m) requests a short work pass. Check the resulting status rather than assuming every page on that platform is now allowed.
  • For Goal is available only for eligible content with a current goal and no active lock. Review the displayed site and goal, then choose Confirm for Goal. This allowance ends when the goal changes or finishes; it is not a permanent allowlist entry.
  • Appeal opens an explanation editor. Describe how the resource supports the current goal, choose the offered duration and select Submit. Wait for the result; typing an explanation does not itself approve access.

Quick passes and goal allowances are unavailable under a lock, although an eligible AI Appeal can still be offered. Manual block entries and non-appealable categories, including adult, gambling and short-video blocks, can have no Appeal action. Follow the card's reason; do not promise that Smart mode makes every short-video intervention appealable.

If an appeal fails because AI is unavailable, repair AI readiness. Do not assume a pending, cancelled or failed request keeps the page open indefinitely. A temporary topic exception covers the approved purpose, not unrelated browsing or every feed on the same platform.

Review and revoke temporary appeals

For Meoz 1.1.333 on macOS, open Settings → Custom Focus Rules → Guardrails & Policies → Active Temporary Appeals. Review the listed topic or destination, scope and remaining time. Use its trash control, Revoke this appeal, to remove one, or Revoke All Appeals to remove all listed temporary appeals.

Check that the entry disappears. Revoking an appeal does not remove a separate permanent allowlist entry or change Network Blocker. If a site remains allowed or blocked unexpectedly, check the applicable rule.
