Choose what to block or allow

Understand the difference between focus rules and system-wide network blocking.

Read Markdown ↗

Meoz has goal-aware guidance, explicit focus rules and a separate Network Blocker. Knowing which one is acting makes recovery easier.

Use focus rules for deliberate exceptions

Open Settings → Custom Focus Rules to review the block and allow lists. Use a block entry for a destination you deliberately want to exclude, and an allow entry for a deliberate exception. These are domain rules; do not assume a pasted URL creates a restriction for only that path.

An app-level allow rule does not override a system-wide Network Blocker restriction. During Commitment Lock, some policy edits are unavailable; the interface explains the restriction.

Use Network Blocker for system-wide restrictions

Network Blocker can affect browsers and other network-aware apps on your Mac. It is independent of Guardian, so a break or snooze does not necessarily restore access.

Turning on its setup toggle or editing a draft is not the same as applying a list. Use the explicit apply action and approve the macOS administrator request if prompted.

Free and Pro options

Free can apply the built-in Default network list. Pro adds custom network lists and preset choices. Disabling an existing Meoz network block remains available regardless of plan.

To restore access, disable Network Blocker through Meoz and complete any required system authorization. If the operation fails or is cancelled, do not assume the block has been removed.

If a site is still blocked

Check which mechanism reports the block before changing settings. A Guardian allowance does not remove an independent network restriction. If recovery fails, contact support with the error shown.

Add a deliberate website exception

For Meoz 1.1.333 on macOS, open Settings → Custom Focus Rules → App & Web Lists. These lists save automatically as you edit; Network Blocker has a separate apply operation.

  • Add one domain per line to Allowed During Focus (Whitelist) for destinations you deliberately want to exempt from AI judging. Use the narrowest domain you need.
  • Use Blocked During Focus, where available, for destinations you deliberately exclude during focus. Free allows up to 20 allowlist entries; Pro offers unlimited allowlist entries and custom blocklist editing.
  • A domain entry covers its subdomains. For example, allowing music.youtube.com while blocking youtube.com permits YouTube Music through the app-level lists. Allow wins over Block within these lists, but does not remove a Network Blocker restriction.
  • After editing, check the saved entries and Guardian status on the intended page during an active Focus phase. Pasting a full URL does not make these lists a per-video exception tool.

If editing is locked, read the restriction and wait until it ends. If a deliberate exception is too broad, remove it when editing is available and use a temporary Appeal for eligible work instead. Breaks and pauses suspend focus enforcement; they do not necessarily disable Network Blocker.

Understand native-app monitoring

For Meoz 1.1.333 on macOS, Pro custom app rules are under Settings → Custom Focus Rules → App & Web Lists → Monitored Apps During Focus. Enter one app name or bundle ID per line, then check the saved list. During focus, monitoring concerns the frontmost listed app; it is not continuous inspection of hidden apps or background media.

An eligible native-app nudge offers Hide app, which hides the application rather than terminating it. This differs from closing a browser tab. Picture in Picture monitoring depends on its window being frontmost. If no intervention appears, first check the session phase, the listed app and Guardian status rather than adding an unrelated website block. Policy edits may be unavailable under a lock.
